I say surprising, because when it was first introduced, in the beginning of March, the service has been said to be exclusive to the Apple TV and iPhone, iPad devices. However, it hasn’t been mentioned at the time that the exclusivity would only last for 3 months. So, the moment has come for Android and Chromecast users to enjoy the functionality that HBO Now brings. While it wasn’t mentioned during today’s event, it’s expected that the video streaming service will be available at the same price of $14.99 per month. Also, an exact date hasn’t been provided, but if we take into account the 3-month span, then we should be able to use the service by the end of the next month. Pichai mentioned it will be in time for the upcoming True Detective season which premieres June 21st. I personally am looking forward to that moment. He further added: “You can watch your favorite episodes of Game of Thrones, the upcoming True Detective season, or maybe even your favorite episode of Silicon Valley. I hope this moment doesn’t make it in there.” This is great news for Android and Chromecast users, but even better for HBO, which will now be able to extend its customers base by millions.
