Get the latest update:
In order to get the feature on your Instagram, the first and the foremost thing you have to do is update your Instagram application. For this, all you have to do is: go to the iTunes App Store or Google PlayStore on your smartphone, find Instagram and download the latest version of the app, if not updated already.
Open Stories:
After getting the latest version of the application, launch the app and swipe from left to right to get to the story recording segment. Here along with a number of different modes like Normal, Boomerang, Live, and Type, mentioned under the shutter button, you will find the one you are looking for: Music.
Select music:
Once you find the option, tap on the “Music” icon and a list of popular songs will come on your screen. If you do not find the song you are looking for in that list, you can look for it in the Genre category which has a number of genres including Hindi, India Pop, Punjabi, Telugu along with a number of regional and international genres. You can also look for songs in the Mood category where you have options like Love Songs, Party Hits, Fun including others. There is also a search bar that allows you to type and find the song if you are looking for something specific. You might not find all the songs in the library but are likely to get the popular ones.
Select your bit:
Once you are set on the song, you have to select which part of the song you want in your story. The app will tell you when you hit the chorus and will also allow you to preview your story with music before posting it. For this, you have to slide the white rectangular box across the song’s wavelength and set it on the exact spot from where you want it. Once done, you have to record or click your story and the part of the song selected in that box will play as background music on your story. Like any other filter, you can also keep the story and discard the song on top if you do not like it before posting it.
Add Music to existing photos and videos:
But the feature is not just for pictures and videos you take at the moment. You can also add Instagram music to videos and photos in your gallery if you want to put them up on your story. For this you have to select the image or video from your gallery, swipe up to get all the stickers and features and there along with GIF, Hashtag, Location, you will find Music as well. You can then select the option and go about it the same way as mentioned above.
