The Xiaomi Amazfit smartwatch slightly resembles Motorola’s Moto 360 Sport variant flaunting a round dial on the front and a thick ceramic bezel surrounding it. The wristband is user replaceable and allows attaching any 22nm strap to the watch. Furthermore, Amazfit is IP67 rated making it water as well as dust resistive. It also includes a 28nm GPS sensor which assists in better location tracking and distance calculation for workouts. On the specifications front, Amazfit comes with a 1.34-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 300 pixels and is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 280mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0BLE + Wi-Fi and a sufficient 4GB of internal storage. There’s also a dedicated heart rate monitor on the back which is capable of constantly keeping track of your heart’s paces. Moreover, keeping the region-specific target audience in mind, Xiaomi has also included on-the-go Alibaba’s mobile payment service, AliPay. In terms of battery life, Amazfit can last up to five days on a single charge, although, with GPS mode turned on all the time, battery life cuts back to 35 hours. If you’re merely tracking steps, Xiaomi claims that Amazfit can go up to 11.6 days. All the logged activities and workouts will be synced with the MiFit app installed on your smartphone. The Xiaomi Amazfit smartwatch will be available starting from tomorrow itself at a price of 799 Yuan(~ $120 / Rs. 8,000) in China. It will be quite fascinating to see how the watch competes in the market especially with Fitbit’s recently launched, Charge 2 band. However, Xiaomi’s smartwatch features will surely provide it an edge over Fitbit’s fitness lineup.
